Talking New WebTemplate Site - 03-20-2004, 04:55 AM

Hi, I have recently completed a new project, http://melen.net/templates

I was wondering if people can rank my site on:
1. Speed
2. Site Design
3. Orginization
4. Template Quality
5. Template Prices

I tried to make everything as fair as I can and was able to sell similar designs as template monster for about 1/6 the price....

Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

It popped right up for me on my broadband connection, but it has to be slow on dialup. The page is 35k + images... I consider that real big for a site...

I am not to fond of the blue button with the yellow outline. Did you make all of those templates? The "homepage" "about us" and "news" buttons all go to the same place....?

- The page is a little slow... Do you think it is because of the images or the hosting?
- About the blue and yellow... Would you suggest I use some template I am currently selling to use on my site?
- Homepage, About Us and New all link to the same place because it is all on index... I didn't expect it to fit at first but when I completed the site I wasn't sure what to fit on those buttons.. Do you have any suggestions
- Me and some people working for me made all the templates.. Also, what do you think about the screenshots... I have good templates but im afraid that the reason I don't have good sales because my screenshots are horrible compared to site like templatemonster.

Thanks For All The Output

BTW... I noticed you own a template site your self... Email me @ melennet@t35.net If you are interested in some sort of partnership (linkexchange maybe)

Thanks Again

I would consider a linkexchange or something.

It is because of the flash animation on top of your page and all of the huge graphics.

I would start off with selling TM or Boxedart templates first, before trying to go solo and sell your own designs....

Why would you say that?

Maybe because TM and BA are already very developed established business. Selling them is alot easier then selling templates of your own over and over at the beginning.

2. Can learn how to get traffic
3. and how to promote your site to get targeted visitors and sales.
4. Not that depressed if it fails (did not sit and make 100 templates first)
5. Can get a site up quick
6. Can establish return traffic with high quality templates
7. Huge inventory
8. Easy Setup
9. Ability to get subaffiliates under you
10. Easier to establish trust in your company when you got quality products that look good.

If you are no good at running a template site, all you are out is a couple hours and a couple of bucks for the hosting. Creating your own template site which you have spent hours upon hours building the templates can lead to a pretty big upset if it fails.

11. Once you get a TM store set up, you can easily divert traffic to your template store.

Do you want me to go on? ;)

Their all good points, however he already has his site and templates done, So he's beyond just starting off..

For someone starting, that is great advice but not someone that done...
