My Deal - 03-16-2004, 10:16 AM

I don't want to go into much detail, but I will have to call him in about 8 hours. I was talking with this company and were trying to figure out how to make a profit off the servers or rather I am. Here is what I know:

- 100 - 1000 Servers
- 90% Windows - 10% Other
- $25 / power/1000 GB bandwidth
- No Control Panels
- Servers cost ranging from $500 - $10,000

I was talking to him about some of the competiors such as EV1 and Server Matrix. What I am thinking of telling him later on this morning is we should charge for bigger upgrades such as a 120 GB harddrive. I was also thinking of telling about that we could do Shared & Reseller accounts if money is to be made. He was worried about only $20 profit after everything included is taken out. Now here is what I will be suggesting

- Conversion: 90% Linux - 10% Windows
- Control Panels: 70% Cpanel, 10% Plesk 7, and 10% Ensim, and 10% Helm
- Operation Systems Offered:
Redhat 9.0
Slackware 9.1
FreesBSD 5.2
Mandrake 10.0
Suse 9.0
Trustix 2.1
Gentoo 4.0
Debian
Windows 2003

I hope you guys can help me figure out a way i'm still thinking of how we could profit and pay off the servers in one year :)

It can fall under the category of "PLP" or Private Label Partnership. We provide what they have and we spilt the profits we may off Virtual, Dedicated, Reseller, etc hosting.

I'm not comparing... I am saying competing in a way. If we do better we can always grow. I'm just trying to figure out how I can convince him on our pricing. It costs $5 for power and $20 for 1000 GB. I'm wondering how to pay the servers off so please don't flame me.

I was talking with Alexander today. It seems he wants to get price quotes for new servers, so it may look like were going to be mass producing. Luckily, I have a friend who can build these things easily and give me huge discounts. Basically this partnership is to gain profit on the market. The deal is they provide the datacenter staff, servers, and marketing budget. In return we do Sales, Support, and put forth the marketing budget while keeping our website updated. How much do you think the following should cost and how much of a setup fee?

Intel Celeron 1.7 GHz
80 GB Hard drive
512 MB RAM
Cpanel

What i've found out so far is he wants us to build these servers. I've been calling several places throughout the day and got my friend. He can build alot of these boxes in a week and I figure we could pay him $25 - $50 per box made. I'm going to be calling Intel tomorrow and see what type of deal I can get through the distributor. Where could I call to get cheap RAM? It doesn't necessarily haveto be brand name RAM. I was told you could try AMD.
