Unhappy Services - 02-13-2004, 12:36 AM

What type of services should be offered with Hosting to attract customers? :)

I'm thinking of holding a contest sort of thing... first 5 customers get free something something, but I do not know what to offer.

I would think that TRUE 24/7 technical support is one of the main thing that will keep you alive since most companies don't mind paying a bit extra for TRUE 24/7 technical support. There are other FREEBIES as well like FREE domain or FREE clientexec license which you can purchase through their reseller system...I believe 5 licenses for $25 monthly if I am not mistaken.

I would say something that has been constantly addressed is actually having live people available by phone in different departments. Also having support reply with solutions not just questions, and having as much as you can available on your site.

I would have to say live support that is reliable, and know what they are talking about. Sales people that know what they are talking about and that are there. Good up time, if you have reliable servers, and offer a good product then it is going to sell it self. You can offer free hosting time, free domain registration, but if you don’t have good services then your customers in the end will leave you for some one else. undefined

That is crazy, I would never host with some one that has to give away something to get me as a customer.

Arthur,

We do not have to give away something to get customers we are providing it as a contest for those that do sign-up.

We have lots of clients that sign-up with or without this promotion. The question we had is we could either spend $3k on advertising that month in papers and online or give something to those that sign-up with our service.

I agree that it's not always easy to get new clients but if your only method of getting people to your site is using google and forums then you need to rethink how your getting clients.

We spend a lot of time in our community which most hosts do not. I suggest all of you get out, volunteer, join networking groups or attend user groups. Most people in the community that you live in probably have never seen their host and would be happy to work with someone that they can atleast tell is a human being.

We have had our most success with word of mouth locally and suggest you all get involved in your own local market.
