online payment processing - 02-20-2004, 03:26 AM

I’m having the darndest time finding a righteous online payment processing set-up.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

1. No set up fee.

2. Recurring billing

3. Able to use my sign up form, card accepted, card declined and thank you pages

4. Provide different accounts for different Web sites selling the same newsletter.

5. Fraud prevention \ AVS.

6. Good customer service.

I have my own merchant account. Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Try merchantplus.com they're pretty good... low rates.

A lot of our merchants have reported similar trends. I recall one Web host the other day telling me how his sales doubled within a month after he started to accept all major credit cards vs. just PayPal.

While not everyone's sales are necessarily going to follow that same level of dramatic increase, I'd say that based upon reviewing a good number of our merchant's processing histories each month... most of them see a definite increase month-to-month in their sales.

I love paypal too... just that for non-US merchants the buyer has to signup for a paypal account before they can use their CC to pay... my clients hate that.

So i got 2CO as an alternative.. fine so far

Thumbs down paysystems not good - 08-11-2004, 09:24 PM

To whom it may concern,

I've had an awful experience with a merchant account company called
Paysystems (http://www.paysystems.com). Everything from the
(unmentioned) holdback charge where they hold about 6% of your sales
for 6 months to the 11 weeks of having my money and not paying me.
Plus, their customer service is terrible. Every time I call, I have
to go over my entire issue with them. It's like they don't keep
anything in the computer.

Their customer service system has big trouble with letting you talk to
a supervisor. Plus, they don't generally allow you to speak to the
Settlements department. I spoke to them once, but it was a miracle.

Paysystem's settlements ONLY go on Thursdays. If there is a problem
with something, they don't care and they won't make a settlement on a
different day. You'll have to wait a week.

Right now, they are holding a lot of my money. Their system wouldn't
work with my business savings account. Someone should have been able
to diagnose this problem far sooner than they did. I called my bank
and Paysystems many times and nothing worked; each time, I waited a
week in between attempted settlements, of course.

They were finally able to make a single settlement into a different
bank account. However, the customer service agent promised me that I
could email him Friday with the results of the attempted settlement
and he would immediately make ALL of the other settlements that
bounced back. Well, he was nowhere to be found last Friday. Now,
it's Tuesday and I still haven't heard a word from him.

In short, Paysystems deserves two big thumbs down. They would NEVER
be able to conduct business like this in America and get away with it.
Things are obviously MUCH looser in Canada. If you need a merchant
account, then look elsewhere.

Check out the eCommerce section at WHT. So far there is a 46 page discussion about Paysystems dumping most of their clients due to their own merchant account apparently closed.

Thanks, read some of it. Apparently I'm not the only one who's got a problem with them. They really don't seem to care too much about their customers (or should I say ex-customers). Well, if this is their way of doing business I sure don't want to be any part of it. Just my :.02

There are some good options available for Canadian merchants these days, such as PSI-Gate and InternetSecure, that I would recommend investigating if you are CND and in the market.

As for us, we can place only certain types of Canadian accounts if the merchant is Internet-based and the principal is a Canadian citizen with a CND SSN#.

However, the terms are not as favorable nor is the pricing quite as aggressive as our true, in-house program for U.S. merchant processing which is really our core specialty.

What happened with PaySystems was quite a catastrophe for the many merchants who were affected. Even worse than the U.S. & Canadian merchants - who have other options available - where the vast numbers of int'l merchants who were put out of business without an easy alternative option to setup due to their geographic location.
