Hiring Employees - 05-22-2004, 03:57 AM

I need to get information (like payroll taxes, what forms to fill out, etc.) about hiring employees to work for my web hosting business. I live in PA, USA if they will help anyone, thanks!

Defiantly, a good local accountant is the way to go. Develop a relationship with one and they'll be able to help you with a lot of this kind of stuff.

Also, a little tip about payroll, if you ask the accountant which software (simply, etc) that they like to use, taxes become a lot easier.

You may also consider hiring on an independent consultant basis where they handle their taxes and you only have to report what was paid.

The accountant personelle is the way the head ache free way to go. You only need to see them once a month, and the will solve all problems.

You might also want to consider a payroll service like surepayroll.com. They take care of direct deposit, withholding, tax filing and W-2s. All we have to do is report new hires to the state, put them in the payroll system and submit the payroll. Very nice and neat, and cheaper than most Accounting firms. Plus its all a web-based portal.

An external Payroll service might be the way to go here. It will save you money and time if you look at the bigh picture. If your current accountant can do it fine - otherwise it is expensive for a small business with one or two employees to have a staff accountant doing that kind of work.
