During the more recent "Florida Update" google dance, I heard that company websites went way down in search results in favor for small content non-profit type sites. Although there were many speculations why this were so, one idea that was proposed was so that companies would have to invest in Google AdWords in order to keep a good position on search result pages. Then again, Google keeps its algorithm a complete secret so who are we to even speculate ;) The PR1-10 values we see on the Google toolbar are just very very rough estimates of raw values that compose a PART of the algorithm afterall. |
