Can someone please explain to me what alexa booster or auto hits machine is? I think I get the idea that both send fake hits to your site, but is this legal?

I've been checking out a few .coms on ebay and keep running across ads for these two products. Can someone explain them to a newbie? IMHO it sounds like bad business...but hey I could be wrong..
