I appreciate the replys. Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time on this site reading it all. I find it very interesting.

>>>This domain alone makes several hundred bucks a day I would guess.
None of my business but do you own this one?

I find all of this very interesting and just, well, ...amazing!!!

Again, I appreciate your time in responding. I owe ya one!

I had this exact newbie question as well. :)

After reading these replies, I have this general idea of how it works:

domain parking only makes sense to "mostly serious" domain speculators who have a decent portfolio of domains, some of which have a good number of backlinks -- right?

Then, domain parking would be a temporarily way to pick up some money from those domains while they await transfer to their eventual buyers -- if I get the idea. Domain parking isn't a great long-term solution, I'd imagine, because eventually some of those backlinking sites will want to clean up their link rot and the domain will become less trafficked.

Right?

Or is there some way John Doe with two or three domains could make a little money off parking?

You miss the point.
Grils.com - a typo domain that has no development potential and no resale value makes $7 a day with a PPC page.
That's approximately $2555/year.

You get the idea?

How about several 'worthless' domains like grils.com ? :)

It is is a long term automated income. :)

Domains can make more money on traffic than if they are resold.

not just that but I make 700 (total for all)dollars a year on names I thought
up, along with deleted domains that dont get a lot of traffic.
permittest.com never a website just parked domain earns me 200 dollars a year, when I say earn I really mean make enough money to pay my reg fees and buy new names to expand my portfolio at the same time There is a chance to sell names for a profit over the coming years. Even some long names make enough to pay for reg fee. learnerspermittest.com pays its reg fee

Yah, EX: I have a couple generic domains of my own like GameRumors.com that get close to 20 Uniques a day from type-ins, simply because their generic.

Id suggest miss-spellings.
