Order Process - 03-28-2004, 05:40 PM

Hello there!

I've been reading through the forums, and they've been very helpful. but I do I have one question.

I realize that in order to run a basic hosting company, you need a domain name reseller, an order form that asks for client details and payment processing providors.

Places like 2checkout pretty much provide you the order form that your client's put their personal, payment, and hosting information into, but one thing I don't understand is how to streamline the domain process.

I've noticed in some places, before you register for a hosting account, they ask you whether you want to
a) transfer a domain
b) register a new one
c) do nothing

Once the customer selects an option, you either search and register for a domain name, and THEN proceed to the order process, or you go straight to the order process.

How do I go about implementing a system like this?

Your help would be great - thanks in advance.

You could purchase a software that does include all these features. Modernbill might be an option. I used to resell domain names via OpenSRS and had somebody setup the OpenSRS software (free) for me so that it even worked with my Authorize.net account. The software is free - the integration did cost me $150.00

I appreciate your response.

I have found a stack of hosting resellers that offer me ordering services that can be integrated into my website.

I have also found numerous domain registrars that provide software and APIs that can be integrated into my website for me to resell domains.

My biggest question is how to "put the hosting and domain" all into one package - so my customers can do both at the same time when they'are at my website.

I want my customers to be able to signup for the hosting and domains in one shot - or do stuff seperately. How does someone like me (interested in starting up) setup something like this? Is modernbill the only way?

Lok at Modernbill or ClientExec (?). I think they both offer what you are looking for.

One aditional thing - stay away from immediate account activation for new customers. That's an invitation for trouble (SPAMMERS, etc.).
