Need Help About Becomming a Domain and Hosting Reseller - 11-09-2003, 01:29 AM

Hi,

I'm interested in reselling hosting and domain names...

I've used bulkregister.com for a few years, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with using them for domain reselling?

I actually am interested to find out if there are any good reputable domain/web hosting resellers in one, that would allow my clients to sign up online through my web site, and do all the credit card processing etc behind the scenes? This way my clients don't know that I'm a reseller. Would I need a merchant account for this?

Does anyone have any comments on ehostpros.com reseller program?

Also, is renting your own dedicated Web server much preferable to getting a reseller package? Because at www.virtualhosting.ca I can get my own VPS dedicated server for $70, which is only $20/month more than the reseller program.

Thanks,

Michael.

Have you Tried WildWest - 11-19-2003, 11:50 AM

Not Sure who you're targeting - but if you're looking for a private label program that's handsoff - take a look at Wild West Domains. http://www.wildwestdomains.com
Truly a Turn key operation - great prices on domains and they offer a lot of products. Mostly retail/consumer type stuff - small websites. But they do have a great deal for 250+ Emails to get via Webmail.

I use www.rsppp.com . I don't have to prepay in order to buy domains, there are no setup fees or activation fees. The price is $6.85 per/year. With other guys you have to prepay $$$, and you can just get stuck with all those domains

enom is the best - 12-28-2003, 04:00 AM

We have accounts with enom, godaddy (wildwest domains) and bulkregister. OUt of the three bulkregister is the most exspensive and least versatile. If you are looking for an API (application programming interface) which would allow you to sell domsins from your site and charge them with your merchant account then enom is what you want. They have the most tools for hosting companies looking to dive into the domain business. Godadddy also has an API but it just came out this year and is more money up front and not well tested yet.

Another option is singing up for a H-Sphere reseller program which you can sell domains through your hosting reseller account. This also works well. The down side is that you have to use their API to sell domains but if you can find a H-Sphere partner that has a low rate on domains it work out well for you. If you start your own cluster with the H-Sphere system you can use your own enom account, either way it works great and easy to maintain and set prices.

You can find out more info on both of these services on our site. I hope this helps in your quest.

We use enom, and used bulkregister prior. Both are good, we stuck with enom because it is a tad bit cheaper...

Support is same for both we found :)

I am scared of cheap servers, a friend of mine tried one at united colo and their bandwidth was terrible, even with a light load on their server. For quality dedicated server we strongly recomend DV2/transactglobal. If you want reseller programs, consider reading reviews at webhostingtalk or comparewebresellers.com.

Solid Domain/Hosting Reseller - 01-15-2004, 03:52 AM

Hi Michael,

From what you are asking for I would strongly recommend the Wild West Domains program mentioned earlier. Their Turn-Key program is really easy to set up and they handle all the transactions so you dont have to get a merchant account. Also they offer 24/7 phone and email support for you and all your clients. I have yet to find as well a supported a program out there.

In terms of hosting they are in the basic range right now. No e-commerce capabiilty yet but you can set up phpBB on their CGI plans. Everything is PHP and MySQL capable and they even have FrontPage extensions on everything just for those die hard MS people.

They also have a ton of products and services that complement domains and hosting which you can make a profit from.

Have a look at their site: www.wildwestdomains.com and give them a call.
