Hello All,

A lot of hosts started out as resellers or even affiliates for other companies..and with time you've grown to be an independant host, what advice would you like to give to newbie hosts still starting off on their hosting career?
I hope this could be a big list to help newbies B)

first of all, try to have much $$$. If you can stay with a reseller stay with it. A reseller cost about 20-30$ USD and a dedicated server cost 120-200$ with no: control panel, billing support, management, ...

Before buy a dedicated look how much customers you want and the revenus. I know many company who have closed because they don't have enough cash

Good luck all

Yes, you shouldn't attempt to buy a server if you don't have at least the money to pay for it for 3 months.

Webhosting is a business. Understand as much as you can about your industry, your customers, your suppliers, and your competition.
Be very clear about what makes you different from the next guy. If it's price, then you will have trouble down the road. Try to link your webhosting with another product or service that add value for the customer. For example, if your customer is into digital photography show him or her how to use a website as his or her "international photo gallery".

1) I second what Ballistix said

2) Never buy a dedicated server to start out your hosting business.. Always go with a Reseller well unless you have money to pay for a Dedicated server for a couple of months and you know how to manage one then you could consider buying it..

3) Be nice to your customers
