Responsibilities
You will work individually or as part of a small team to maintain, monitor, and fine-tune the functionality of the server and network systems in our complex systems architecture. You must be willing to work non-standard hours as needed to accommodate 24x7 internet site outage schedules. The candidate must be able to work under stress and communicate effectively.

Additionally, you will be responsible for the following:

Communicate and escalate issues within All Headline News
Install operating system upgrades and patches as necessary
Deploy equipment at collocation site
Interact with vendors to receive support and replacement parts
Configure server system and network parameters
Monitor stability and performance
Troubleshoot system anomalies
Rapidly scale system to meet demand
Help develop and write tools to maintain and monitor the cluster
Creating and deploying RPM's
Consult concerning the performance of software systems.

Requirements:
Independent problem solving, self-direction
2+ years experience with, Fedora, Unix/Linux and MySQL
Must be able to properly and safely lift/move 50 lbs of equipment
Must be able to write and troubleshoot scripts in Perl
Solid understanding of a UNIX based operating system, NFS and DNS
Comfortable with most aspects of operating system administration; for example, configuration of mail systems, system installation and configuration, fundaments of security, installing third party software
Quick learner, self starter, self motivated.
Ability to function in fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial enviroment
Effective communication skills (written and oral), strong interpersonal skills.
Several years of verifiable software development experience
Ability to efficiently telecommute with minimal immediate supervision
