I don't know... a few of the graphics programs I've used let me choose a color to make transparent when I export them into...say... a gif file. A few other options too.. like how much leeway you want to give it (I usually just choose some exotic purple or green as backgrounds then export it, choosing only that exact color to be made transparent).

I will never look at an eel the same way again after watching "More Eels". If you don't know what I'm referring to, feel blessed you haven't.

just use the magic wand tool and select the color then delete it then drag it onto a new transparent file.

Do what Crusader said or when you go file --> save for web there's an option that comes up that allows you to make bg colour transparent. There is no "transparent colour" in photoshop.

# With the current Background color in the Color Palette set to the color that you want to be translated to transparency, select Colors > Set Palette Transparency. (If your image has a color depth greater than 256, you'll then be prompted to reduce the color depth.)

# In the Set Palette Transparency dialog box, choose "Set the transparency value to the current background color" and click OK.

#

Save your image as a GIF.
