Disable right click - 08-10-2004, 11:31 AM

I've seen some sites where right-clicking has been disabled, I'd like that on my own site, anyone know a little script I can paste on my pages?

Please. :)

You can goto www.dynamicdrive.com

I generally would NOT disable right click as its annoying and pointless. They can still steal your code/images if they want to.

Maybe you should visit www.scripts.com
or search on google with "right click disabled" + javascript or something like that.

There are various combination scripts that you can try out, if you do not want anyone to copy your code and images then along with the no-right clikc code you have got to mae sure that in the Internet browser toolbar in the 'view' menu, the 'source' option is disable or not present.

Also you can get a script that allows you to right-click on the page and even see the code, but when you try to save a image and try to right-click on it, it does not allow you to.

Still people are going to find way to copy your stuff, but atleast you can make it harder for them :)

Cheers,
Ashish

Even if you disable the Source option you can still copy the code right in to something like Frontpage etc... The only way around that would most probably to encrypt your html, php or what ever. Because that is only sure way around stopping someone stealing your site.

You can download a no right click script from:

http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/noright.htm - ( note: this one gives you a notice).

http://www.annieshomepage.com/tips9.html ( dosen't notify you, silent). :)

I believe that cPannel has a feature where you can prevent users from downloading images unless it is also being downloaded with the page. When they try to download it they get nothing, or a dummy file that you can specify. It is called hotlinking feature. It would prevent the user from right clicking on an image and downloading it. However, they could still get it if they copied the image from the browser itself and then pasted/saved it in a file. Using the hotlinking feature would only make it more troublesome for them
