I have been reading up on quite a few seo and google pr optimization pages lately and have been optimizing my site and my google pr went down to pr4 from 5...? That is so gay. I hope it's due to an invalid crwal due to servers down that link to me, however I fear that it isn't.

Sorry to hear about that... I wouldn't worry about it to much though, I believe Googles whole PR system is losing its value extremely quickly..

Yes they are the best right now, but slowly the market of PR is devaluing itself as the days go on.. People have 1000 SEO tutorials on what you need to do to boost PR and so forth, once it becomes a commom practice, you will see every site have a PR 5-7 for the most part, all will be equal and the PR system worthless..

I have to agree google is deffinetly the best, but it can be a bit buggy.

For example, I had a site once ***.com that pointed to ***.net. The forwarding domain had a worse pr rating then the actual site itself :(

That happened to me. but after the next update, it went back up to 5. Not a big deal.
Trying to get up a 6 is very difficult though.

to have a pr 7 you must have a lot of content and plenty of time online. is not that easy.

Pr doesn't have much to do with content. pr is based on links to your site.

Adding more content wont actually increase your PR, adding content will add more result/entries to a search engine. :)
