dreamweave help - 05-15-2004, 06:50 AM

in dreamweaver, when we embed an image, the image automatically attaches itself to the base directory on our hardrive insted simply imbedding as a result, the images often don't display. Is there a way to avoid this?

I'm thinking it has to do with the 'Relative to' option when inserting an image. Try selecting either option and see what works for you.

Also, I've found that often times dreamweaver puts a '/' infront of the images path. Try removing the forward slash manually in the 'insert image box' and the pictures should show up.

Hope it helps.

I hope so, you are talking on this,

when u insert an image the image saves in the root directory of the dreamviewer.

This Problems Occurs when there is an image rotation.

So what u do , is change the code as soon as u insert the u image.

1. Copy all the images from the root to another,(including .js Script too)(If Image rotation)!

2. change the code.

Must work Fine,

There are 2 ways to do this:

#1) When your image tag looks like this: <img src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/The Master/Desktop/atn.gif"> You can always go to Edit > Find and Replace or CNTR + F, and change file:///C|/Documents and Settings/The Master/Desktop/ to the web directory your images are in, such as web/images/, images/, ect.

This step will only work effectively when all of your images are in one folder.

#2) This is what I do.

I create the index.htm in the same folder as my images folder. That means that my index.htm and images are in the same folder/ path. This way, when you insert images, it should read <img src="images/whatever.gif">. Just upload the contents in the folder into your server and it should work. Make sure that your image folder and the html file you are editing with Dreamweaver are in the same path/folder such as My Documents for example.

Hope this makes sense! :D

Don't suppose you know how to prevent Dreamweaver from putting the '/' in front of images?
