You can use FP just fine, but you will find a lot more power behind Dreaweaver.

I would use FrontPage for a while untill you get fmailiar with html code, then move on to dreamweaver and soon after start learning php so you can make your site more professional with php scripting.

lol, if he doesn't know html frontpade is where he should go. He's doesn't have expereince and can't create his own code so he shouldn't be using advance editors to confuse him.

I learned basic html by using FP. I would set up the page how I wanted, then go in and start looking at the html and make changes to see what happens. FP is so basic that yes it does make you think you know what you are doing. As long as you keep your talent in persepctive, i don't see any harm. Not sure there are really serious designers using FP, but for people like me (who are not designers), FP is good.

I started with AOLPress in 1997. It was a pretty sad program, but it taught me the very basics of HTML. It wasn't much later when I learned I could code the page in Notpad, and have complete control of the coding. I started using Notepad, and have stayed with it ever since.

I believe it works well to get a basic understanding of the fundamentals of HTML in a wysiwyg editor, before digging into code with Notepad. The entire process of coding a page from scratch can be daunting to a beginner.

I agree with the straight HTML coding approach, but I'd suggest a more sophisticated text editor (open multiple files, syntax highlighting, etc.) I use and highly recommend Crimson Editor, available for free at www.crimsoneditor.com
