Payment systems in Eastern Europe ... - 01-13-2005, 03:14 PM

Hi. This is my first post and I want to salute you all.
My question is:

What other good payment systems do you know besides 2co.com and ikobo.com ? They must have coverage in almost every country from E Europe ... thank you

Depends on:
1)-Which country of Eastern Europe.
I guess www.worldpay.com cover one or two but if you are, for example, in Romania your chance will be like unexistant. Almost 90% of the Credit Cards Frauds come from these countries and almost all Credit Card Processors refuse to cover them. Your best bet would be to find a credit card processor (or an online bank) which will also create for you an Off-Shore Bank Account. This leads me to my second points:
2)- What is your budget for this.
Yeah, because the charge for all this might be higher than those of 2CheckOut and then it won't be profitable enough for your business....

Hope this help and, by the way, welcome aboard. :D

:) As a matter of fact I am from Romania and it seems that both 2co and ikobo.com have Romania included in their coverage. I think I should try and see them in action because they are both free to signup. The problem is that I read some articles about 2co and their customers aren't that happy for using it. Take a look here.

I think that ikobo does that. They send and ikard (Visa electron debit card), which can be used to withdraw money from it. I'll do more research about this ikard.

Being at the beginning of my online business journey, I have to say that my budget is very limited

Hi, Solenza

You can also try www.payu.pl (Poland, but seems to be working internationally).
More of that, try www.pay-ace.com But be careful and read docs and descriptions of LARGE variety of their services.

It was a pleasure to help you :-)

Cheers

Thanks but I'll stick with already consecrated services. I just found out that 2co is not free to signup so I think ikobo is more appropriate for me. If you want, I will keep you updated about my ikobo experience. Wish me good luck!

Well, good news. :D
The registration process was really simple and it took a couple of minutes to complete. My account was immediately switched into operating state after I scanned a copy of my ID and one of my household utility bill and sent them to ikobo's verification department. I didn't expect them to verify me so quickly. Anyway, I selected the ikard local delivery option (it seems that my country is included in the local delivery country list) and the fee was about 5$. The standard delivery fee is 9.95$ but the time necessary for the ikard to arrive at its destination is much shorter (3-5 business days).

My IKARD has arrived. It is a very nice Visa electron debit card with the ikobo logo printed on it. I already used it to withdraw my money sent by a friend of mine who is working abroad. There is a fixed 1.9$ withdrawal fee. It is a very small fee considering the advantages the ikard has to offer compared to traditional wire transfer or electronic checks. At least for anyone who is always on the move and it doesn't want to wait too long in order to cash in his funds.
Also, on my Google searches, I found that OsCommerce can be implemented very easily as a shopping cart. It has an ikobo payment contribution too. In fact, it has plugins for every payment processor available on the market. What do you think about osc? Should I give it a try?
