E-Domains - 01-04-2004, 02:56 AM

Investors in domain names should be interested in this concept, perhaps you would like to help us develop the ideas below?

Domains and E-Domains

There are two groups of .com domains, one of which is widely known about, and the other which has until now been largely ignored.

You will be familiar with the traditional set up where the website has a home page and associated pages and e-mail addresses - along these lines:

www.CarRental.com
www.CarRental.com/abc
Sales@CarRental.com

You are probably less familiar with this format:

www.C@rREntals.com (home page on the web)
C@rRentals.com (autoresponder or contact address)
www.C@rRentals/abc (additional pages)
Sales.C@rRental.com John.C@rRental.com (contacts)

This second format is what we call the "E-Domain format". It has significant advantages over the traditional format.

If you do not beleive it works try F@therChristmas.com in you browser.

Is anyone interested in developing this new format?

The concept is multiple!

EG you register www.ylor.com - which gives you cotrol of to sell the domain www.AnynameT@ylor.com as a domain as well as the e-mail address AnynameT@ylor.com

So this becomes an alturnative to .name

Website / message board at www.EricT@ylor.com

e-mail address EricT@ylor.com

There are about 4 million Taylors to sell to - many competeing for the same name

You can use the & symbol in domain names because this internet protocol accepts the use of & previous to the @ symbol

So you buy www.rtners.biz and you can make anyname&P@rtners.biz as a website address

EG www.EricTaylor&P@rtners.biz is a legitimate domain.

There are millions of businesses that end with the words &P@rtners.biz

You can also register the addresses of big companies without fear - for instance www.W@ltDisney.com is a valid website address that can be bought for $5

I put W@ltDisney.com on an autoresponder - using it's e-mail identity - it can have an autoresponder and website identity. Try it - it will send you information about Walt Disney websites.

This is the beginning of the concept - but it goes a lot further

That is only the beginning!

Your first step is to look through your present investments and identify base units you already own - especially three and two letter domains.

For instance if you were to own ng.com you own the base unit for half the population of China. 50% of Chinese have names ending in ang - as in Wang Shang Chang - so this base-unit controls e-domains for 50% of the Chinese population. www.AnynameW@ng.com etc.

If you owned sses.com you could make www.anynameCl@sses.com

What is required is a a site where investors can place their base units for the ICAAN registrars to buy from. Such a site would become a mini ICAAN and control about a third of all registrations of domains.

BTW : E-Domains is a better system than traditional domains. I will tell you why later

Dude - With the lack of support for even approved TLDs such as .biz because of a lack of consumer recognition - how can you possibly think something this confusing will become familiar to the masses?

The internet is a new technology - it has been in general use for less than ten years. A few individuals will be in the right place at the right time to make a lot of money - I intend to be one of them.

Yes there is a marketing hump to be overcome - there has to be a strategy to cross this hump. It would require combined efforts of SOME the registrars and SOME investers having foresight and a vested interest in the concept.

You said it yourself - .biz .name .pro are not a success because as you say they are not .com - E-domains extends the range of .com by at least one third - ( I got that quote from an Icann registrar - one of a number looking at this concept, there are significant financial advantages for the Icann registrars to back this system. I have been in correspondence with a number of them0.

2. E-domains are visually chic. For instance compare with .name which looks wooden beside the e-domain alturnative

3. The domain market did slump - because it over heated - and people got their fingers burnt. However that is not a reason to be despondent; underlying trends are now upwards - addresses will become in short supply. This is another attractive solution

5. E-domains is a bridge between the world of e-mail (used by your "masses") and the world of websites (used by geeks in the know). There are ten times as many users of e-mail addresses as website addesses - these users can be hosted across the divide from being e-mailers only into e-mailers with web site facilities

6. E-domains bring into play the possibilty of more intuitive use of autoresponders - the more imaginative use of autoresponders would give website designers opportunities to create more interesting user friendly sites.

I could go on - but this forum only alows 1000 words per message
