1. Which are the best backordering companies?
2. Are DomainAlert any good?
3. Can more than one person backorder the same domain as DomainAlert often doesnt let me backorder some domains...why is that? Already backordered by someone?
4. How do backordering companies fail to register the name for you when it hasnt been snapped up by anyone yet??

Some help guys as i've got some crucial backorders and i cant afford to screw them up.....i'd die :( hahaa

yes more than one person can backorder a domain name, usually if a lot of people backorder it and your registrar succeeds they hold an auction for the domain name.

another registrar has probably already registered that domain but they don't exactly need to put in any information in the database though they do own it. whois records are left empty when a registrar is just holding it.

Domain Alert is a reseller of "3 transfer limit snaps"

The company that provides this product is www.snapnames.com which sells the unlimited variety of snaps.

However, very soon the whole backordering game will dissappear and WLS will take its place.

Snapnames has a pretty good success rate for me historically. Pool seems to be gaining prominence but unlike Snapnames you may end up paying a huge amount for the name.

BTW preorders are already being taken for the WLS service here . There will surely be others but AFAIK this is the only one right now, and it's one preorder accepted per name (i.e. no auction model).
