Vietnam.org - 03-14-2004, 01:02 PM

I just bought Vietnam.org

What do you think country .org domain worth ?

I have business in Vietnam, so paid 5 figure for this domain.

Also I sold about 200 domains (80% are 3 letter.net) during this 6 month and bought about 10 Vietnam related domains (End user price) for future business. (Most are famous resort / tourism spot in VN)

VietnamGuide.com
NhaTrang.com
DaLat.com
VungTau.com
PhanThiet.com
LongHai.com
HoiAn.com
...etc

Which is better use domain Vietnam.org or VietnamGuide.com for development portal ?

Advise me.

I think 5 figures is an astounding amount to pay for a .org domain. I'm glad you have development plans.

I would have evaluated vietnam.org at no more than $1500.

I base this on the fact that there is virtually no .org market. The extremely superlative .orgs don't even get much attention.

The First Name auctioned racing.org and was only able to fetch a low 4 figure price.

Having a choice between vietnamguide.com and vietnam.org?

I would select vietnamguide.com because it is just as memorable as the .org alternative and users would be more clear as to the commerical purpose of the site.

Same here, .org doesnt have the same market as of .com & .net, but however when .com &.net is not available there is no other go. But still such an amount is pretty high for .org domain.

Thanks for your comment.

Yes, I bought not domainer price but end user price.
.com price is over US$300K. (COMMUNICATE.COM own)
.net, now redirect to VNPT (Government)

I just want to say
Someone will pay a lot of money for thier business demand.

If Peru.org for sale US$1,200, I do not buy.
US$800, I will consider to buy for resell.

Greg bought around $6,000 for China.org last year.
Singapore was around US$3,000 (WebMagic sale)
Vietnam.org, may be US$1,000 to US$1,500 for reseller.
But I paid US$12,750 + Escrow fee.

This is domain world.

Hi, suthra.

Yes, this price was very high for domainers.

But .com is over US$300K.
.net I lost chance buy it for US$20K before. (Now not for sale)
.info VNNIC own.
I own .jp, but worthless local ccTLD.

Country .org looks official. Not so bad for right user.
I did not use this domain yet, but I am right user. :)

Sometimes, we need courage and quick decision for domain purchasing, even selling.

I had chance purchase some good domains before, but did not buy.I have bitter regret.
5K for Communities.com
10K for Native.com
15K for JS.com
5K for Weekly.com
8K for Account.com ...etc

No substitute, especially .com domains.
Different than Cars, Condos ...etc

A bit pricy, but I think it's a fair price for a retail developer.
