i have not seen any type of list - maybe a bit of searching around might bring up something. Unfortunately most companies who have purchased a licence have decided to stay quiet about it. EV1 seems to have a rapport with its clients so it tells them about everything they are doing... | | | | Confirmed User | | Posts: 209 Join Date: Jun 2004

"In an interview, this past week, EV1 CEO Robert Marsh stated that he was surprised by the reaction to his purchase of SCOX’s Linux IP license. A survey of EV1’s customers conducted on EV1’s web site suggests that 85% disapprove of the action. Worse yet for EV1, it appears that a number of customers are voting with their feet as, according to Netcraft, over 1000 web sites have defected from EV1 to a competitor in the past month, most after the SCO deal was announced. One competitive provider we spoke to claimed and all-time record week for new bookings driven by EV1 defections. Regardless of the final damage to EV1, the resulting perception is likely to be that licensing Linux from SCOX is bad for business. Thus we remain skeptical of SCOX’s ability to close SCOSource licenses ahead of a legal victory. Combining this with an aggressive, and thus costly, legal strategy, our outlook for SCOX remains negative even after the stock has been cut in half since the beginning of the year."

In short, its a company that owns Unix, They believe that since Linux was derived from Unix that the linux code contains copyrighted unix code in it, and they are now trying to claim rights to the linux code, and get money. You mean SCO does not claim rights to Fedora ? I highly doubt so... its still based on Linux, the core code is what SCO is trying to claim rights to | | | | Confirmed User | | Posts: 132 Join Date: May 2004

Simply because, SCO are against the open-source linux community, and by being a Ev1 customer, you pay Ev1 money and Ev1 goes to pay licencing fees to SCO. Indirectly, arent you helping SCO out ? | | | | Confirmed User | | Posts: 57 Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Toronto, Canada

Wow now that I know about this SCO I can't beleive it. What a bunch of jerks. After all the work that goes into the Linux community these guys step in and say, yeah we own it, so all your efforts were for nothing becaue they want to make an easy dollar. Some people don't seem to have morals.
Of course they claim this SCO thing now because Linux is popular and getting companies making money off it so now SCO has an easy target to go after. This issue is already making me sick and I hardly know anything about it.
Are companies fighting back about this? EV1 is paying SCO!? Are you serious?
Have I been living under a rock for the last 6 months or something? How come I don't know about this!? :secret: | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode
