A few ways to ensure you get what should be a reliable host.

1) Pick a host that has been in business for more than a few months.

2) E-mail their sales and support at different times of day and judge the timing and quality of the response. (Remember that alot of companies sales may take longer to answer than support)

3) If the host has forums post a few questions and see what kind of response you get from existing clients

4) Expect to get what you pay for.....
